Cambridge to introduce parking charges for cycles.Well maybe not, but now we've got Cabs attention, some cycling offers from Lidls.
Shortened by the link fairies on the grounds that we don't all have 48" monitors.

Although, I've heard that Jeremy Clarkson IS pushing for road tax for cyclists.

I was driving down the road the other day and several cyclists were riding along. They rode down the road, one of them turned off, but the others kept going. Then I turned off and they carried on along the way they were going. I went home and had a nice cup of tea. And a biscuit.

I approve. As cyclists we should pay what those motorists with zero emmission vehicles pay (i.e. nothing). And we, like those people, should get tax documentation paid for by other motorists. I believe I saw an estimate that this would cost the average motorist between five and ten pounds extra per year
Look out for the cycling 'bargains' at Aldi and Lidl. Some few bits of genuinely good kit there, but a lot of it is just rubbish.
And Cambridge already has paid cycle locking.

Thats does not look that good. Its like getting a car on lease, at the end of the period you do not own the car (bike).
Did a quote on a £200 bike set. Would cost £120 over the year but at the end I would need to pay | Quote: | **Please note :A Fair Market Value payment is payable upon cessation of the agreement or at the end of the lease period
| to keep the bike. Cant see it being much of a saving.
Just like the car lease schemes it lets people "use" some thing they cant afford to buy now & worry about it (and its replacement/ purchase paymenty) later.

They reckon that the FMV is usually about 5% of the original cost of the bike.

Zero emissions? Have you stopped breathing when you cycle?

And I doubt those lycra shorts stop any other emissions that might escape when straining against the pedals up a steep hill.

Most people at work are getting a decent bike and £200 doesn`t IMHO get a good bike nowerdays, another saving is the money is taken from your pay before tax and by haggling with the retailers and going from one to another with your quotes means good savings. basically most were getting 50%
BTW - final payment is 5% = Chicken feed.
