Camera memory card problem

My friends digital camera has just come up with the message "Card has wrong format, press OK to format card".
Before I could stop her, she pressed OK, and because I said "nooo", tried pressing things to stop it.
We then switched the camera back on, and the card seemed to (mostly) work again: it seemed to have most of the pictures on it.
So I plugged it into the computer & started copying them over, but now it has gone back to "Card has wrong format, press OK to format card".

I've tried the card in my card reader, but it just says the drive is not formatted.

Any top tips for retrieving the photos?

Well, your pictures will almost certaily still be there, you just need the right software. I use a free scandisc programme, but you should be able to find a freeware one that will do the job.

Yes, can anybody recommend any?
I had a similar problem before, and tried a few without success.

Well, I could, but there is little point. As soon as I do some wiseacre will come along and say 'that's rubbish, what you should use is this.....' so I'll leave it to the wise ones Wink

A Pm to Hairyloon should solve your dilemma.
