cleaning/drying bottles? So how do youall doit? I go for a soak in steriliser and then stand them up to drain BUT it's such a hassle that I tend to use a barrel as it's easier and I'm lazy.

Beer is always in barrel - i gave up bottled beers decades ago, far to much hassle
Wine - I usualy store most of that planed for home econsuption in 1 gal demijohns and tarnsfer to 1 gall wine boxes when i want it . Minimises washing up .
I do bottle up a gallon ot two out of every 5 gall batch though for longer term storage and taking out to diff places.

Steriliser poured from one bottle to another via a funnel.
Rinse three times in cold water, stand upright to drain down, then tip up to get rid of excess water
For bottles after drinking, I've got a draining rack by the sink with 8 neck-sized holes, so they drain upside down.

cleaning bottles immediately after drinking is a good plan . if you don't the sediment will dry and stick and be a bugger to get out later .
If you do get gunk stuff in bottles stuff forget those crap bottle brushes. Attach a bit of plastic scourer to coat hanger wire and use that - loads better

I use very hot water to clean them thoroughly then, when they have cooled I use sterilising fluid in about 10 bottles and pour it from bottle to bottle when it is done (about fifteen minutes). I usually sterilise about 40 bottles at a go like this to over cover what is in the fermenting bin. I occasionally use a barrel to rack a beer off but only for special occasions as it soon goes flat once started if you can't get enough guinne-pigs to help you sup it!

im just about to go to the local gun shop and get a pack of BB's, there is some stuff stuck to the inside of some of the bottles I want to use so im going to start with washing up liquid and water and pour the BB's in then gicve a good shake and swerl, the bb's should act a bit like an abrasive and scour the inside, then on to rinse sterilise and rinse again, and this is for my mead I want to bottle and lay down for christmas.
