Yes and quite a brave man - he went on five live this morning and said he thought people who owned a 4 wheel drive in the city were irresponsible and that immense pressure posibly financial should be put on manufacturers of electrical equipment that have standby facility

I think Attenborough carries a lot of weight in the popular opinion - just what we need following the disgrace of David Bellamy.

I agree nothing new but it all seemed a bit more scary to me said in Attenboroughs soft ,dulcet tones
I did think it spelt out the real problems in an easy to understand format though

That's true - the graph was especially compelling, I thought.

True, i cant help but trust what he says so i suppose it pushes my ideas more towards that way of thinking.

I didn't think the graph was as compelling as illustrating the glacier retreats or the pictures of the amazon drought. The problem with graphs, or anything that hints at maths or science, is that you immediately lose half your audience.

Very little is actually "new" on this front, but it's tremendously important to get the message to those who still aren't listening.
That's why people like Attenborough really matter in the world.

I don't know - even my 11 year old found that bit interesting, but perhaps we just have that kind of brain

We watched this and then the one over on bbc4 which had a thing at the end where you could help to research the possible outcomes via your own pc.(BBC web site). However i couldnt help thinking that millions of PC's all running a prog to predict the outcome of global warming etc was a bit like encouraging people to leave the PC on instead of turning it off.Wont that add to global warming?? I wonder if they have added that to the models they are running.
I didn't know about the Amazon being so hard hit
Scarey!
The coral reefs are dying because of heat and light which is killing the algae that lives in them, what about floating something over them to shade them? I can just imagine huge rafts of cork or whatever anchored to the sea bed.

The people that can make the decisions still aren't listening

And it still doesn't get through to some of the people who are in a position to make those decisions ie Dubya + Kyoto.
That's frightening!

My PC is running the BBC global site - it works in the background of your machine while you use it
The PC does NOT have to be left on - the programme comes on when you switch on and stops when you switch off - and it does not slow your use of the machine at all
I have not noticed it at all - just remember every once in a while to change the screen saver to see where it has reached - got to go do that now!!
