clipping call duck's wingsso how does one go about this?

We've not bothered with clipping ours. They flap about a bit in the garden but haven't flown away yet.

i was addvised to do them being that just them other side of the fence is a busy road but the hedge is about eightfoot high. and we are in a coutry park with huge lakes!?!?

Ours don;t even go over the field gate at the end of the garden. Probably better safe than sorry though.

I clipped ours when we used to shut them in for the night, as they would fly away from the ramp into the hut! But now there are only a couple of drakes left, I leave them to it.

As long as you don't cut lower than the tips of the second row of feathers you'll be fine.

'Wings' is not the term, it should be 'wing' . The idea is to make them unbalanced so that they can't fly. If you can wait until tomorrow evening, I have a Light Sussex pullet whose WING needs clipping and I should be able to take some pictures of me clipping it.

wing, wing, i know i ment wings as in i have seven ducks to do..ie seven wings
i have to do them tomorrow morning but photos would be useful any way xx thanks x |

You do realise that if both sexes decide to attempt flight at the same time, then they'll probably collide ?
