I love love7 seahorses - fascinating little creatures. Jellyfish are just wierd - but they live at astonishing depths, 2,600m for one - why don't they just turn to mush under those pressures?
Nick

Um, they are mush. Smile

I think that's BECAUSE they're jellyfish. Something about their molecular structure, I expect.

Just looking at seahorse pics for inspiration...

But they have a structure - albeit a wobbly one. They should be just.... mush.

Well not really they have evolved a structure which works at those pressures. This does mean they turn to mush when you bring them to lower depths or maybe they explode either way lower pressures don't do them any good

They are very cool looking!

Jellyfish turn up in the unlikeliest of places...

internal pressure=external pressure. No stress.

We went to the aquarium the other week, they had a display of ordinary, common jellyfish (at least, so they looked to me) flowing up and down under a UV light.
I though it was one of the best things there.
