The charlie bit my finger video which has been viewed 80 million times has created the same carbon footprint as 120 single economy flights to New York.
A 400kb photo viewed 20 times uses as much energy as a 100w lightbulb on for half an hour.

Well it had some interesting facts and overall said internet bad, radio good! lol
I had heard somewhere that a google search uses the same energy have as boiling a kettle, not sure where though.
Its unlikely to change the way I use the internet, but perhaps it should. I mean if we are all blogging and using the web,twitter and this site, as well as trying to cut down on the use of aircraft travel and sourcing local foods rather than internationally shipped food, which accounts for a similar amount of energy, should we be good internet users and not post everything we photograph or take a video of that has little merit?
Or just ban World of Warcraft?
All the above is wide sweeping statements, knowledge and understanding derived from one radio program half listened too while funnily enough checking e-bay and emails.
