crafty challenge: a 'finish it' day

For want of better plans on a wet and miserable day, I've decided to go through all my unfinished projects and finish as many as i can. This will be easy for me, because I have chronic startiti and a habit of leaving stuff when it's only the few boring end bits to do, like sewing in ends on my knitting.

However, i challenge myself to finish 10 items today. So far I have completed:

1. son's socks- had to knit 2 inches, kitchiner toe and sew in ends
2. dishcloth- ends only, but 18 of them
3. dishcloth- ends only, another 18
4. hyperbolic scrubbie- ends only
5. child's scrap yarn shawl- ends only
6. sewn in ends on part finished sock yarn blanket (about 80 ends)
7. sewn in ends on 4 small washcloths
8. ends sewn in on 40 blanket squares
9. sewn in ends on 2 more small washcloths
10

5 further unfinished items frogged or otherwise scrapped

I think I will have to give in and light the fire and see how much I can do of No2 son's 2nd sock.

I've got to go out at 4 to meet a woman from Freecycle but then I'll be home with a M&S two for a tenner meal (see if the invalid can cope with a bit of salmon Rolling Eyes ) and a bottle of wine all to myself Cool

Goodness toggle, you are whizzing through things! I'm going out, but I'll take my knitting with me.

I'm just too stupid to sew in ends of things as i go along. then i realise i have a bloody great pile of stuff to manage

next up, 50g of green veriagated handspun single to navaho ply. i've already done the first batch a few weeks ago.
toggle

taking a break from that now, Have I mentioned my resolution never to attempt to navaho ply on a spindle ever again/

I'm sewing in ends on squares for the stashbusting blanket. I'll sew in about 40 squares worth of ends, then sew together a few squares into 4's. maybee 5 for another couple of finished things. Not completely 'finished' but a fair proportion of work done there.

My knitting is going to have to wait. A big yellow thing ahs appeared in the sky and there's a nicely chilled bottle of chardonnay ion the fridge Cool
toggle

No big yellow thing here, but I did have an afternoon nap until rudely awakened by a foot stuck up under my ribs, then a friend came over for a while. I'm now back to the sewing in ends while my mother cooks supper
Stacey

Yay for afternoon naps Cool
wellington womble

Absolutely - I was sociable today instead, but yesterday I had a huge afternoon nap! This morning I had a lie in, in leiu. I may schedule one in for tommorow.......

I'm starting to need them, due in about 6 weeks now and i'm not sleeping well, she's right up under my ribs and on my bladder.
toggle

finishing this off today.

I'm knitting as fast as I can, but I'm unlikely to be finishing anything anytime soon! I have half a sleever and most of the body on a raglan knitted in the round. I'm going to see if I can finish the sleever today (I'm trying not to think about how it's all going to fit together when I get to that part!)
Belinda

I have socks to finish, but sadly coursework to mark before I can even think about the socks.

Might get them out this evening though - only about half a sock to go, I think.

Then there's the three quilt blocks I need to finish - a project for later in the week perhaps.

What is surprising to me is that the number of unfinished things i have floating about seems to have been seriously reduced over the last year. Although I have about 6 unfinished blankets, the number of smaller things has gone down a lot, there's a lot fewer than I expected to find.
wellington womble

I could find you some - I'm not good at finishing things! I have finished the sleeve, though - there wasn't a sleeve cap, so there wasn't so much to go as I thought.

Potting on toms in the greenhouse, or go curse at the printer, then? I could calm and cold, or warm and irate!
toggle

i'd do warm, ti's bloody freezing today

You've done well toggle. I've been decluttering and have created chaos in abundance Rolling Eyes .
toggle

I'm going through decluttering slowly. Can't do most of what i want to do until fatshit gets off his arse and collects some of his stuff. I can start to throw away some of the stuff he collected that is clearly junk (like 3 broken printers and parts of 4 obsolete computers)
marigold

I'm going slowly too - I'm far too easily distracted, I'm knackered and have to keep resting, I constantly have to battle with my hoarder tendencies and general distaste for wasting things (and the money I spent on buying them). BUT sooner or later I'm going to have to move to a smaller home, so the non-essential stuff has to go .

That's why I don't declutter - you almost always seem to end up in a worse mess than you started in! It does get better, but only after you make it worse!

I'm going for warm and stressed. I've just been out with the dogs, and frozen. Ugh.
toggle

i have to, otherwise I can't fit in my 'room'

I have literally cluttered up this room to the point I've had a narrow pathway between the door and the chair and have just enough room for a teacup on the desk.

I decluttered the bedroom a while back, cleared out a load of absolute crap that I'm never going to fit back into and would never wear even if I could, plus a load of himself's endless supply of work clothes
marigold

The good think about this stage of decluttering is that I can't see the carpet (or the gunk that needs to be hoovered off it) Laughing .

This is another good reason for not decluttering. Invisible carpets do not need hoovering!! Laughing

the only thing my carpet ever really has a chance to collect is cat hair. long enough to be annoying, too damn short to spin
