Cutting inWhich do you find easier?
Paint the wall 1st then do the coving? Or paint the coving and cut in when doing the wall?

I do the gloss work first (I Know that's Wrong, but you can wipe emulsion off gloss and not vice-versa.) Then the coving and cutting in down to the picture rail. Then paint the ceiling and top bit of walls. Then the cutting in on the walls, then paint the walls.
Probably all Bad, but it works for me.

Same as Sean but don't have picture rails and can't reach ceiling.

I tend to work downwards : ceiling, coving [if any] using emulsion, then cutting in frieze down to picture rail [if any] or whole wall down to skirting board, paint frieze / walls.
