I guess they (the doo gooders) will start to campaine to make it illegal to make bio at home to "save" us from ourseves.

I thought the spark ignited the FUEL which then made flames / exploded.

A guy around this way had been heating his oil and then adding the ethanol/methanol but the thermostat on his heater broke and he added a batch of alcohol to oil that was above the alcohol's flashpoint - got a face full of a hot oil explosion.

Treat methanol like lighter fuel, i.e. be very careful, it really does go from cute-smelling liquid to blue fireball in an instant when it reaches its flashpoint!
Apart from that ... go for it with all your might, if you have the know-how (which l don't).
