Dead Pigeons

Just recently I have found on my land 3 dead Pigeons which only the breast has been eaten - the wings, back, legs, head and the beast bones are still intact.

Can anyone tell please tell me what animal would be doing this?

I would think if its a fox the whole body would be eaten.

Man?

A lot of shooters bag a pigeon and then cut out the breast - it's the only bit worth having if you don't want to carry the whole bird away with you for poaching etc etc.

I take your point but the carcass looks like it has been eaten by an animal and it does't look shot.

Perhaps an animal got to them after the shooter had removed the breast part?

Sparrowhawk?

Peregrine?

Most likely to be a bird of prey i should think, and one that hunts on the wing.
Nick

Do you live near Brownbear?
