Do you make a mess with your stick-blender?

Well?
A.
sally_in_wales

mostly only used for soapmaking, occasionally for whizzing soup (well cleaned of course in between times), not usually messy Confused
gnasher

I use mine for soup, I use it in a tall jug so there is no chance of spray.
Jonnyboy

If you make a mess it's usually because you have not enough depth of liquid (too wide a pot) or you are lifting the blender too high.
Mrs Fiddlesticks

the odd inevitable speck of soup on the hob but not usually 'messy', no.
hedgewitch

I usually blend soup and put it in a tall jug to do this. SO no mess. Cool

Mind you, when I first had a jug-style blender, a long, long time ago, I did open the lid when it was switched on, just to add something I had forgotten... Embarassed

Nearly took my thumb off with mine a couple of years ago---totally my own stupidity Sad as they helpfully pointed out at casualty Laughing

and what did you splatter and where? Very Happy

P.S. Just use mine for soup in a tall jug, no splashes... so far!
wellington womble

I only use it for large quantities, so it's not usually an issue.
Erikht

It's hardly rocket science to use one, is it?

I don't make a mess with the blender as I mainly use ot for soups and sauces. The whisk attachment is a completely different matter. I've yet to figure out how to avoid cake mix flying in all directions across the kitchen.
Slim

took me a bit to figure out what you were talking about, never heard the term before. (won't chalk this one up to local accents however, as I wouldn't know what else to call one of those thingy-ma-bobs... Rolling Eyes)

Not till the time you are so busy chatting you clear stuff off the blades while holding it at the top near the on button while forgetting you haven't unplugged it Shocked That's when you regret getting a big one Sad
Tittch

We call ours the Pimmer for some reason...

I always wrap a bit of kitchen roll around the top of the jug to stop the soup flying out everywhere.

:fishes broccoli out of eyebrow. Again:
