do you need PP for a static caravan on AOC land?Obviously its a little more complex - weve been offered a really cheap 2 berth static. Can we just stick it in the paddock? We are an AOC house with holding no, actively farming on the plot.
Local farmer said yes, someone else said no.

You can have a caravan without planning, yes, but to live in it as a dwelling, no.

You can put it in the "curtilage" of the house so the garden as long as it use is ancilary to the occupation of the house. If you are not claiming on the land you "could" call it the garden subject to PP or if you have been doing it for a long time by determination? There are also some rules for farmers to site them for workers as a temp measure. There are also some rules re woodland workers if you can comply with them. Is the position overlooked from public areas? Do you get on with the neighbours? Put it on & get away with it for a while & then they cant make you move it.
