Do you watch Eastenders? National Grid surge!Andrew Marr's 'Britain from Above' on BBC is certainly interesting. Did anyone see the last bit where The National Grid prepares for a power surge every time Eastenders comes to a conclusion in the evening? Several million head to the kitchen to make tea. So here's a poll of the guilty parties.

Actually this happened the last time I published a poll. The last option drops off.
It was supposed to to have an 'OTHER' option but it's not there and I can't fix it.

I think soap operas are a form of mind control, and Eastenders is the most guilty. Have never watch it except by accident.

I don't like T.V. soaps but confess to being an Archers junky I don't think anybody's ever controlled my mind though or my mouth come to that

I added other for you... I chose the loathe it but others love it, but it's more of a I loathe loathe loathe it, and others will watch it if it's on... bloody tripe that it is

Coronation Street, on the other hand, is one of the finest things on television today...

Ditto.
But I wouldn't watch it if I did have a TV. Boring tripe.
A couple of my friends are so addicted to Eastenders or Coronation St that if you phone them during the magic half hour they say they'll phone back when it's finished. Pathetic. And far more annoying than if they just let the call go to the answering machine. I wonder if phone traffic reduces noticeably during those programmes?

I don't watch the horrible things - though if the lurid covers of TV magazines on display in newsagents are anything to go by, their plots consist of little bar murder, betrayal and an endless stream of 'psychos' and 'evil'.

Don`t watch much TV, especially stuff like soaps, I can`t see the point in watching what is supposed to be "real life" I get enough of that at home !!!

Whose 'real life' is Eastenders supposed to reflect, though? Fred West's?

Ooh me too. I usually catch up on a Sunday while I'm baking.
I avoid TV soaps, and can boast to never having watched more than 10 seconds of Coronation Street in my life - I only have to hear that dreadful signature music or catch sight of that depressing roofscape and it's off!

No TV. Have to leave the room if it's on at other people's houses. Why would you want to watch something that's so depressing?

Utter, utter, complete and totally utterly pointless, stupid, stinking, rage-inducing pile of steaming turds.
Why anyone (aside from the manically depressed or rabidly sociopathic) would want to watch the tide of drivel is so far beneath my comprehension that I don't know where to begin.
Addicts should have their heads remove, their 'brains' scooped out (not really enough to cover a small biscuit) and the shell used to store used chewing-gum; at least then they'd have a purpose.

used to watch it a bit (and neighbours ) but can't be bothered now - -always was drivel, but sometimes enjoyable drivel...now it's just sensationalist b ***ocks. and how come anyone who is in it or the others suddenly become "celebrities"...they are actors...
.....an no it's not sour grapes...i cant think of anything worse than being recognised all the time and people taking pics of you shopping in tescos or something...it happened a tiny bit to me when I was in Boon, (just locally I hasten to add) and it was very intrusive....

I used to have to catch bits of it, but I did eventually wean Snowball off the soaps I'm amazed that people don't find their brains leaking out over the sofa.

I find it quite attractive. Apart from sitting next to him on long coach journeys of course.

I don't think I've ever seen it. The Archers is my soap.

I hate it.
We have Eastenders, Neighbours? and Holby on series link so Terry can watch them at her will, when I am doing something constructive.

The Archers is different, nice things happen in The Archers.

I'm afraid I stopped listening with that DASTARDLY Brian behaved so badly to his wife and mistress. Awful. It's Blair's Britain, you know.

I enjoy The Archers best when someone in the plot is on their very worst behaviour. St. Shula has been stupendously awful (even for her) of late.

I can't stand soaps at all. The only time we even get the tv out is when Dr Who is on.

Yikes! That is something else that has me reaching for the "off" button as soon as I hear the music

I went for other. I haven't watched EE in years, but as I recall it isn't worth loathing.

I used to get really annoyed when the advertising for Eastenders said something along the lines of "Everybody is watching it" - NO WE WON'T. But it's a sad fact that so many people DO watch it so avidly
