does anyone want to buy a country cottage with orchard etc

hello all, i am finally having to give up my country dream, i have fibro myalgia, and despite struggling on, i can no longer tend my lovely garden , we used to have hens and veggies, now im covering it with weed supressing cloth, good news though i have never ever used chemicals in my garden. last year hubby picked 45lbs of red grapes off our vine, we have four beds one downstairs one with on suite... for me. but my lovely 200ft + garden with 7 apple trees rhubarb and goseburrys raspberrys etc is just going to rack and ruin. the house is lovely it has a converted attic warm and snug with a velux window, not a bedroom but a great big room for kidies to play or a hoby room. a huge shed thats lined with power. and a mettal shed or two plus greenhouse. i dont want just anyone to buy this home, because it is a real home, i added a larder and swept chimneys myself, built a laundery room for wet days, and it has a lot to offer, my neighbour has a fantastic veg garden, he and i used to trade eggs and cabbages like ther was no tommorow, but now at 37, i cant even bend down to pick weeds. my hubby isnt interested in the garden or really in the country life, and i will need full time care so there it is, its a 1930 semi in rural north lincolnshire, when my son comes home next he can do the thingy with thecamera and i will pop some photos on, oo i forgot i palnted a canadian maple syrup tress years ago, its getting quite big, and theres is fig and plumb too. 130k, it should be more but i want to vet who buys it. lol.

I'm so sorry you are contemplating leaving your much loved home and garden. So sad. Crying or Very sad
Nick

Indeed. Very sad, but, don't take less than it's worth. You might find you need the money later on. Doesn't preclude you vetting future owners.

Sorry to hear you are are being forced to sell - but I agree with Nick - don't sell the house for less than it is worth Smile

yes, but i want the new owners to be a nice couple or family who will love the garden, not just sell up and make a proffit a year or two down the line, my neighbours are wonderful, and they all deserve a nice family. besides hubby can afford it, we bought this house a long time ago and had 3 kids, so its paid for its self. Smile

I'm so sorry about your situation, I have a friend with fibro myalgia too - she was/is a nurse but is getting less able to work all the time (esp as her boss was unwilling to accommodate her needs.)
Your home sounds beautiful, just the sort of place we'd love ! If we were able to move at the moment.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures.
jamsam

my home is on a hill looking out towards the wolds not far from brigg, but in nrth lincs ( better council) btw the council tax here is A ! its 970 per year. i have taken pictures of the apple trees in blossom and the grape vine. we have a problem with the plumb tree, there is a thrush nesting in it and she gets a bit cross if i come near. thanks all for your coments
James

Ohhhh.....that sounds beautiful!

just out of interest, how far from Leeds & York are you?

My sympathies for you having to move from somwhere you obviously love. I fear my parents may not be far from a similar decision themselves (my dad has Parkinsons.....every time I go home I take cuttings from their Shropshire garden).

About 50 miles I reckon.

No matter how well you vet them they could do that anyway unless you slap some restrictions in the contract which I recon would not stand up to a chalenge any way.
I know you have put your heart & soul into it but once its sold they can & will do what they want with it even if they tell you different at the time.
They are buying a home for them to live in with their dreams not keeping your dream alive. I do understand how you feel cos we too are selling our home that we do not realy want to sell. Lots of people are coming to view but none want to do what we have done. They all have their own lifes to live. This is one of the big reasons houses dont sell, the seller has personalised the house so much no one else could live there without major changes. You see it all the time on the TV house programs.

Justme

PS I realy realy do feel for you having to sell under these reasons & can empathise about what the new sellers will do (our last house had lovely new cherry wood windows & doors that the new owner ripped out & put white UPVC ones in because it was cheaper to redo the whole house inc adding a conservatory than buy a wood conservatory). It looks terible but hey they paid me for it they can do what they like.

Have you sold up yet
Jamanda

Hi Kentish Steve. Welcome to the site.

Old and Weary isn't a regular poster, so if you wish to contact her about the cottage it might be worth emailing her.
