To save on Xmas stocking miles I'm going to do what I usually do, give a fiver to a Big issue vendor.
Good luck Eco!

I shan't take the credit, as my sister is organising this. She volunteers for a homeless shelter in cambridge. She also takes to the streets offering kind words and support to those that are homeless. She does fund raising through out the year, gives out donated blankets, clothes and food.I offered to fill a stocking, which is when i thought about downsizer. and how we make things etc which maybe useful.
So if anyone is interested in donating no matter how small please pm for an address

when I was homeless, i was too young to be a BI vendor. But the Big Issue helps people out, so I wouldn't give them any extra money (don't think you're allowed) as they are choosing a capitalist lifestyle. Those determined to live life without selling people magazines that are JUST forward-thinking enough to justify buying one (but not, frankly, justify the price), are the ones I would choose to help. Frankly, it seems a little perverse to encourage those at the bottom of our chain of exploitation to exploit others for personal profit.

That's not the way I see BI sellers at all.

Me neither - it is a legitimate and positive way for many homeless to make a living as opposed to many illegal and destructive ways to make a living.
