Dont realy know were to startI am really tempted to do some more foraging. I go and collect berries etc but I'm not sure what else I should be looking out for. I would really love to collect mushrooms but again dont have much idea.
Ideally I would like to go on a course or something to learn more, but is there much point unless sits local to you as I need someone to show me what to collect locally surely.
Any ideas? or anyone local to me willing to show me what to do?

How about starting by leanring to identify one new plant or fungi a week, find out what it can be used for or whether its one to avoid, but don't worry too much about gathering and using it at first until you are certain you can tell it from any similar species.

Have a look at this and maybe see if you can get a copy of Richard Maybey's Food for Free from the library to see if you like it before forking out.
I'd take you out if you were nearer, but I don't know when we're likely to be in Wales again.

Hi,
I can thoroughly recommend this;
http://www.field-studies-council.org/2009/courseinfo.aspx?id=374
As a great start to shrooming. it's run just outside Shrewsbury so not too far away from you at a great centre and the cost is not bad when you think it's full board. It was what really started me looking for mushrooms and has given me some invaluable information. you get to cook some of your finds on the Sat night as well.
I liked it so much, I went back for a second year.
