Downsize my ass. I set out to downsize my dependance on others, and my carbon footprint, and all that good stuff.
You see, I live in a very isolated wee village, with only two buses per week. If I want to get to shops, or to see people, or anything, I have to find someone to give me a lift, because I can't drive a car. I have M.S. you see, and this also means I can't ride a bike. I fall off.
So I bought a tricycle! Problem solved. I can toddle along to the nearest respectable town, and from there get on a train or a bus. There's no stopping me now, and I am not burning up fossel fuels.
And the other benefit is that I am burning up calories, and downsising my ass.
Life just keeps getting better and better.

Hi Rivermom,
You are a credit! Anyone braving the Irish roads on a bicycle/tricycle deserves a bravery award!!!
Besides the deplorable transport network - well deserved applause

Excellent, well done Rivermom!
May I ask, which tricycle did you get? A friend of mine is currently considering getting one (and a child trailer).

So was it designed for riding whilst throwing pointy sitcks at a bull, then?
Welcome to Downsizer. Cab will be happy - he's been recommending tricycles for ages, and we all keep buying 4WD trucks instead.

Oh, now that is a beautiful machine. I've seen a couple of those on the roads lately; they look solid, dependable, everything you want out of a trike. How do you find that it handles?

I think that one day I may even have a trike myself. I enjoy a two wheeled bike far too much for that at the moment though

Maybe you could ask for one as a leaving present when you retire to Camberwick Green.

the Picador may have been designed for riding while throwing pointy sticks at bulls, but I'll just have to make do with flipping the bird at the boy racers who can't seem to understand that any other mode of transport has the right to be on these very narrow roads when they want to practice low flying

Wellcome, Rivermom! I also want to downsize but I drive 60 km to work every day and 60 km back. Your tricycle sounds like a very good idea. Hope to see more of your comments; you have made a great start and we all look forward to getting to know you better.

Im impressed that you trike it, did you know you can get ones with a battery to help get up the hills. Im not brave enough and my lane is too full of pot holes ,I would not get far
