2000+ members. Allowing for a few bogus sign-ups, if we all chip in I reckon 400 quid each should clinch it.

A Cyber Community buy-out. I like the idea. I wonder if we could get lottery funding?

Sadly Simon, it is being offered (as is the practice in Scotland) for "Offers over £800,000" - the actual selling price is likely to be considerably higher, I fear.
Interesting that the planners seem dead set against a residential conversion (except possibly to a single country house). I suppose they are thinking of local employment rather than accommodation...

In general properties make 20% above asking price. But things can get out of hand if somebody 'loves' a property.
Which system would people prefer the English, with gazumping and chains? Or the Scottish where the property comes off the market while a bid is being considered, or multiple bids go to a closing date and your bid is legally binding if accepted? This means all surveys and finances have to be in place and if you miss out by a £1 you still miss out.
I've heard it said that the English system is better for buyers, and the Scottish is better for sellers. Pitty there wasn't a middle ground.
