Drinks for the Festive SeasonHidden away from temptation at the back of my store cupboard I now have: damson gin, vanilla vodka, and chilli vodka. I must make some lemoncillo this week (and I found an interesting looking recipe for chilli sherry that would be good to share with the other morning dog-walkers in the park when the time comes) ....
What does everyone else have stashed away for Christmas/Hogmanay/Whatever you celebrate at the end of the year?

Lots and lots of damson gin. You've got me intrigued by chilli vodka though. Still have lots of chillis in the polytunnel.

Winter Solstice wine [ginger, mandarin and spices];
Pomegranate wine [strictly speaking, that's the Samhain/All Souls wine];
Champagnes [nettle, bog myrtle, or elderflower];
Port-style wines [elderberry, blackberry, or e/berry+b/berry]
One bottle of proper, vintage port
Anything else in the cellar I fancy....
After making the pudding and feeding the cake, I shall have some brandy left. I don't feel like repeating last year's DIY Baileys experiment, so what to do with it ?
Anyone tried making Damson brandy ? any good ?
How many vanilla pods do you use to make vanilla essence, in what quantity of vodka ? and would it work with brandy instead ?
Or make the brandy into a coffee liqueur ?

We have a decent amount of rhubarb schnapps, not quite put away more missing in action. Also tried some cherry brandy and cherry vodka, both tasting very good.
As for vanilla extract, we bung in 8 or more in a jam jar and splosh over the vodka. You can still use the pods after soaking, they just have a bit less flavour.

11 bottles rhubarb wine
2 bottles elder gin
1 bottle sloe gin (must make more)
1 bottle blackberry whisky
3 bottles (bought) Armagnac
I'm off for three days - will that be enough?

You could stir it into marmalade - or use it to flame the Christmas pudding. Brandy butter.

@ Gil. Erm drink it? Save it until Spring and use it in Beech leaf noyeau?
We brought back some Alcool de Fruits from France, so I'll be doing Cab's suggestion of cherry and vanilla liqueur, and some more limoncello.
