duck eggs

My pile of duck eggs is growing and no duck seems to care!
How long would you leave them before I should take them far far away?
Chez

Can't you stick them in the incubator and then shove them under a duck if she happens to oblige?
Woo

I dont have one.
we live in a small space at the moment so couldnt keep them warm if i hatched tham.
when the house is done i plan to have one and will find room for a small warm run. i will hopefully use some PV panels and get himself to rig me up an inverter and some batteries just for it!
forever the opitmist!

That sounds extraordinarily self-controlled of you Smile. Perhaps start eating the older ones?

Will they be edible? they have been there 2 weeks plus, and sat on intermittantly by chickens who couldnt resist the sight of so many eggs!
they do like to share a nest dont they!
Chez

Hmm. Float them first? Or mark a few up and leave them around to temp a hen even more ... ?
Nicky Colour it green

crack them open carefully - if they are bad.... you will know....

Some breeds of ducks will lay well in excess of a couple of hundred eggs in a year and never ever, or rarely go broody.
