DVD rewriterCan someone tell me how I can check if my laptop has a DVD Re-writer thingy installed on it please?
There was one on my main pc but the computer chap who wiped it clean and reinstalled everything earlier this year forgot to reinstall the DVD re-writer and so far I havent managed to get him to come back and do it....
Its taken till now for me to realise there could be one on my laptop, but I dont know how to find out

Go to Windows Explorer, to My Computer, is there a D/E drive listed? If so, what does it say?
What does the actual CD/DVD drive on it say on it, anything?

Via Windows Explorer it just says My Disk (D and when I click on that, it brings up some game thats waiting to be written to the CD....
On the disk drawer it says CD Rewritable, and DVD ROM
I guess its got a CD rewriter but not a DVD rewriter...
Ah well, looks like I will have to hassle my computer man some more....

ya it should say something to the effect of DVD-/+R on the drive.
but it should be fairly straight forward to install the drivers for your drive on your desktop.

On a side note. Had an advert yesterday for a PC internal 18 x dvd writer for less than £10. Thats cheap
