Dyeing a dress

A friend of mine has asked if there are places you can get a single dress dyed, anyone know of anywhere? I told her to get some Dylon but she's not keen on the mess.

No mess if you use wash and dye...it all goes in the washing machine and does it itself. Very Happy www.dylon.co.uk

The place I had a dress dyed has gone bump but it was a wedding dress and bridal shop so she could try there as they are used to having to certainly dye satin and silk shoes etc.. to match dresses

Is she aware that you can get Dylon which you bung in the machine now with a bit of salt - no mess, but you do have to run your machine empty after to check all the dye has washed through - also she needs to check that all of the thread used in the dress is dyeable as I found to my cost last year when I dyed a cotton shirt black and it now has very noticeable seams sown in white non-cotton which wouldn't dye Very Happy

Good point about the thread Bernie, have re-iterated the dylon idea and told her to be careful.

And bear in mind that stuff coloured with Dylon needs to be washed separately for several washes after dyeing! Google "dye service" for companies that do dyeing.

Don't forget to get your legs waxed if you're going to the trouble of dying a dress Tahir. Wink

What's wrong with hairy legs?
mochyn

Some dry cleaners used to do it, but you'll need references: there have been accidents...

Dangerous things hairy legs. There ought to be a law against them.

Yeah, yeah Rolling Eyes

If she knows what the dress is made from, there are several other dyes that will work in the washing machine if Dylon turns out to be unsuitable. What colour is it now and what colour does she want it?

It's getting a bit complicated, she's communicating by text which I don't really relate to at all. I'll leave it to her to contact me if she's gpt any queries.

Buy a new dress, you deserve it! Wink
