When you say 'dead buddleia flowers" do you mean with the dead petals still on, or the dark brown stuff that's around now?
Lovely colour, by the way!

we used alum mordant
but I got the idea from Jenny Dean's blog - and she got good colours without mordant.. just we were not sure about colour steadfastness.. so mordanted first anyway.
we used the flower heads as they are at this time of year so they are brown ish with sort of yellow seedy looking bits behind. We avoided the white buddleias and just used the purple ones.. but I have no idea if this makes any difference really.
we filled up the dye pot with flower heads, covered with water, brough to the boil then left it over night. then boiled it for 45 mins - strained it, added the wool, simmered for 30 mins, and left in the pot to cool down over night.. and thats all.

fab colour, looks really useful and not one I've used before. Will be very interesting to see how well the colour holds through washing and light exposure

I got some from Jane Meredith at the real colour show last week so was going to pass some on, didn't know you had it covered.
They won't be needed for a while yet anyway.
