Tell her to turn Caps lock off?

Yes we tried that but she has the control and keeps turning them off , she is so worn out with all the visiting that she is to tired to read them. Its a really sad situation as my father in law is also deaf so they just shout at each other in hospital. I grew up with deaf grand parents but luckily they were expert lip readers.

I shudder to ask why this is in livestock and pets

You've had it easy, we've had that from my dear old mum for years. Whats more, she's someone who wants to know everything thats being said. Add this to the fact that she guesses what she's not quite heard and the fact that she's a terrible guesser and you have the situation in a nut shell.
To bring this back to the subject of livestock, many years ago she came up the fields with us to move the electric fence for the horses. She was sporting to brand new hearing aids and it was sometime after that she realised that one of them had dropped out of her lug. Inspite of numerous searches, it was never found.

Both my parents are deaf, although of course both deny it. They spend an awful lot of time arguing and taking offence over what they think the other has said

Pardon ? " Tickle your arse with a feather ?" " Particularly nasty weather "
In certain marriages, men look upon deafness as a gift. My hearing is definatly on the blink.

oh that sounds lots of fun
grampa is going a tiny bit deaf and we have to keep repeating everything - the worst is trying to watch a film with him though - he keeps asking 'what did they just say?' all the way through!

I'm sure that a mod will be along soon to move this thread to an appropriate section. I said " I'M SURE THAT THERE'll BE A MOD ALONG IN A MINUTE TO MOVE THIS THREAD TO AN APPROPRIATE SECTION"

I had my hearing tested last week and I'm just starting to loose hearing at the top (squeaky) end of the range. As I've now almost definitely got Meniere's it will probably get worse.
I'll be OK on here though! No need to shout...

I've found an induction loop kit that should solve the problem at their house,it consists of 30 mtrs of cable to run around the lounge skirting then a box to connect to the tele. The really clever bit is a built in mike so that they can also hear the door bell so as long as they remember to turn their hearing aids to the loop setting it. The kit is £83 a small price to solve a major problem hopefully.

My big sis has always had ear issues, she's had perforated eardrums for years now, had 2 failed grafts, she can't hear anything at most frequencies, she was getting used to it, unfortunately she's now got almost unbearable tinnitus which is accentuated by certain sounds, she spends a lot of time in painful distress.
I went with her for the first set of grafts, sitting in the waiting room she told me it'd been years since she'd heard bird song.
No idea why I posted that, come over all sad now.

I think that's really sad. Has she been in touch with the British Tinnitus Association? They've been very helpful to me: just sent me a pink noise CD to help with my tinnitus. I dread going deaf.

Depends If it's the woman who works on customer services, then it's bloomin brilliant. Last night she gave me a lecture on how to load a stapler. It seems that after all those GCSEs, A Levels and a degree, I've been doing it wrong all these years
On the other hand, when it's the store manager....
