Early Scaly Leg Mite?

My daughter has three young hybrid hens in the back garden. The hen house and run is second hand (well cleaned). She noticed a hen had a raised scale on its leg, a day or two later it had gone down but another hen has a similar raised 'bump'/scale with a black dot on it.
Could this be early scaly leg mite? The chickens don't seem to be bothered by it.

I honestly don't know - but if she smears their legs with vaseline once a week for three weeks, that should deal with it if it is.

Stop worrying, from the photo that looks like the beginning of a spur. The occasional female grows a spur, but many just have what you see in the picture and they don't grow any bigger.

its the spur point. Will stay like this if a hen. Will only develop around 4 months if a cock.

Hey Lozzer, I think that's what I just said. Laughing

I do! I do ! With the brain that I have, I don't have that problem, it never gets beyond lukewarm. Embarassed
