Eat up your greensThe other day we bought four carrots from the greengrocers. Big thick things, real 'farmers' carrots. The first two cooked fine, then last night we had the other two. Boiling for ages they were still not cooked through (it's a bad job when you need a steak knife for the veg!) but also the water they were cooked in has gone an incredible shade of green- wierd. What's going on there?!

Really hard cored were they? Had they started to run to seed? Were they bolting maybe?

Not particularly hardcored, just resistant to cooking. Guess theycouldhavebeen, hard to tell.
