i seem to recall my dad breaking out in a sweat whenever he mowed the lawn.....
it would probably be worth a fortune now
i have tried to interest my goats in my new back garden but all they do is stand and stare out of the gate at me till i come and take them back to their pen................

Just plant something you don't want them to eat, that will interest them!!

i think it was just too strange for them
anyway it was raining and they don't like to get wet.............
i have an area that needs clearing, a copse with lots of brambles etc....i hope to get them in there....

i have been considering getting one similar from argos. they sell them for about £30.. and i am fed up of electrical mowers of similar proce not lasting.. my only concern is that my garden is approx 100ft long and i'm not sure how easy to use they are..

We have a new one bought 2 years ago from B&Q didn't cost much and is quiet light. one tip though don't let the grass get to long better to do frequently as the longer it gets the harder to push the mower and it tends to clog. I do my 27 x 15 foot garden in half an hour. when it's short. My 12 year old lad loves doing the lawn, I wouldn't let him near the hover.

I've had a push mower for a few years now, kindly donated to the cause by a friend; very good for you, and safer for children to sue than electric or petrol. Mine is a bit smaller than that; the grass does need to be kept quite short for it to work best, though. Will let the goats out first this year, then set to with the mower. Although it's small, it's still quite heavy. They appear regulalry down at the tip/recycling centre for a couple of pounds.
Mr D wants to paint it, but I quite like it as it is.

Howard found a push mower (a Suffolk Panther, to be precise) in a skip. The blades wouldn't go round, so he undid a few bits to investivgate. Now can't find the nuts & bolts to put it back together
There seems to be a thriving collectors and restoration market - there were quiate a few at the South of England and the East Anglia Smallholders' shows.
Either that or it's the same bunch of Regs who'll go anywhere to show off.

You can still buy the "panther" push mowers. I have one! Unfortunately they're now made in china and not nearly as good or solid as the originals. On the upside I got one to replace a flymo and then found that without all the faffing about with cables and all that it's quicker and easier to use the push mower.

A strimmer or scythe would be better:
