Emails that look lik ethey are from you?I've just ha d acouple of friends tell me that they have had a spam email that says its from me and is addressed to a large chunk of my address book.
Now, I run a full AVG anti virus and anti spyware scan every day, and have also just downloaded and run the Microsoft malicious software scanner, and nothing is showing up.
Is there anything else I can do to check that my machine is clear?

I'd try and narrow down which email address it came from if you use several accounts.
It's so annoying

The problem may not actually be on your machine. It's possible that it's someone else's machine / address book that has been infiltrated and that virus is merely picking you at random as an addressee. The way to tell I suppose: are any of the addresses known to you only and not to the general circle of addresses included in the junk mail?
With regards to changing passwords, for the ultimate paranoia do you have an alternate machine on which you can do the password change (to the machine you usually use for email) ?

one way to find out if you are sending out emails unknowingly is to include yourself in your address book.. so you email yourself if you see what i mean....
it might not be you.. those silly emails that people send with the entire address book on it are designed so addresses can be harvested..

We don't have an address book, haven't had one for years, and we still get this problem.
