Energy Efficient LightbulbsI am overrun with energy efficient lightbulbs - freebies from British Gas and the electricity company.
Today I received another 4, 2 x 60 watt light/11 watt energy, 2 x 40 watt light/8 watt energy, bayonet fitting.
Are they any use to anyone? I am just looking to cover the postage.
I will have a look under the sink and see how many more there are....

I think postage would be more than buying them as they are now about 80p or less each for standard type ones.

Hang on to them, when society collapses they won't last so long when run by generators.

Is that true? What about via an inverter (true or modified syne wave)?

I've not heard that either. Theire cost is approaching that of incandescants so would it be an issue anyway? If society collapses we may not be able to run generators for very long.

I still feel that these 'energy efficient' light bulbs are like the emperors new clothes. They just seem rubbish to me. They take forever to come on and are so dull you have to have 2 or 3 in a room to light it properly.
Also they take so long to come on that you are in a room twice as long if you are just looking for something. Dangerous too on the stairs - by the time you can see, you have walked half way up/down.
I just don't understand why we have fallen for using them - I would love them if they did the job - but they just don't.
Sorry to intrude on your trade

Otleylad you need to look at the newer ones. The new generation ones come straight on & have plenty of light if you choose the correct sized ones.

Some cheaps ones are nasty. Those from Ikea tend to be the worst, we've had some free ones recently and they're very good.
