Exciting New Allotment Site.

Wow! We have been offered the use of a lovely walled garden for a new allotment site. OH is the secretary of our present site, and has 15 people on the waiting list, so we are desparate for more space.
Up until recently, the walled garden has been run by a certain lady writer/ journalist as a small business, and she has written a couple of books about her endeavors. She now is going to be working for Boris Johnson, and is giving up the garden.
We can fit in about 11 plots, with room to expand outside the walls. There are two poly tunnels, a bothy, and some chicken runs. There is free water on site .
The rent is £500 pa, first year free. There is plenty of opportunity to sell surplace veg to the <Big House> to students. Last year, they made about £100 a week.
The idea is to work it as a co-operative, so some like minded people from the original site will move, letting up plots.
Site meeting on Saturday morning! Very Happy Very Happy

Hope it works, as we have far to many tomato plants as usual Laughing

Best of luck with that one, it sounds great. I'd love a walled garden.

That sounds a marvellous opportunity- bet you are looking forward to getting started. A walled garden should be nice and sheltered for tender plants.

that sounds really interesting, I can't take any more on this year but would like to come and have a look
