Fencing for geese ... question ....

Hi there ..... we have previously had geese and our field had stockproof fence with 2 strands of barbed wire. We never had any problems with foxes (in Hampshire and never saw any). Now we are in Pembrokeshire (seen a couple of foxes) and I am wondering .... is the fencing we had before REALLY going to stop the foxes getting in?

I only ask because the field we were going to put them in isn't properly fenced (just hedgerow) and it is going to take a lot of time and expense to fence it as before.

So I was just wondering if you really thought that type of fencing is going to keep the foxes away?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to say that it wont Hannah.

Thanks Bodger - so is there any point in doing the fencing at all (at considerable cost) or shall I just take my chances without?

I think I've confused myself! My husband has read the question and answer a different way to me so I'll try and be clear:

The stockproof and two strands of barbed wire fencing - will that keep the foxes out?

Thanks!

No
I've known foxes take a run and go up and over 6 foot plus fencing.

So far we still have the full 8 geese - bearing in mind they are near to the bogland and hence very vulnerable I put their survival down to the saluki training....the slightest rustle and they are out on the water Laughing Laughing

We have a duck goose oil rig like structure that seems to work.

And here I was imaging white geese with foils prancing about....

I too was wondering about how they'd grip them.

If Pembrokeshire's anything like here you'll need to look out for badgers too.

Shocked I thought I'd be the only one imagining geese shouting "En garde!"
