Field Blewits under the snow

Snow melted, and left the world looking greener than it had before. And as soon as it did, poking their noses out, were loads of blewits. They were snowed on, frozen, melted through, and they're still going strong Smile

Laughing Brilliant, I'll have to go and check our local patches. The snow's only just properly gone and I've been stuck indoors without being able to get out for a proper forage for too long.

Still, I did find lots of nice young Alexanders while out walking the dogs this morning and a goodly sized patch of velvet shanks.

Not many Blewits here but plenty of Winter Chanterelle. They are frozen solid and have remained that way since before Christmas. Like Blewits they take being frozen, although this must be the last of them, and taste just as nice.

Also noticed Three Cornered Leek coming up too.

I noticed a few mushrooms (they look like winter chanterelles but I know nothing about them so I won't hazard a guess) in the field today after the cows had had yesterdays daily strip.
