Firefox crashing

Firefox is crashing regularly since Sunday, can't think of anything I've changed, most happen on Downsizer, anybody else having issues?

Its working for me
Jamanda

I've given up on it at work - using the dreaded IE. Lots of crashing. Not so bad at home.
Bernie66

It might be recent add-ons, I reject all unless I can think of a reason for having them.
What's chrome like?
jema

There have been so site changes to speak of, and anyway no web site should be able to crash a browser.

Unless I'm mistaken firefox addons are actually javascript and should not actually be able to crash the browser either.
tahir

Hmm, that's a pain then
Barefoot Andrew

Also suggest removing all add-ons and going back to a basic FF setup until you've sussed which one is causing the problem.

Mine was crashing regularly a week or two ago, but it hasn't done it for a while. No idea why.
marigold

It happens to me too. I assumed it was just due to my creaky old set-up.
Some websites will knock out FF and sometimes my BB connection as well.
It's less bad at the moment than it was a week or ten days ago,
but that may be simply because I avoid sites that I know tend to kill FF
and if anything takes a long time to load I do a precautionary "force quit",
which does at least mean I only have to restart FF, not the whole pooter.
I think it's something to do with embedded video media,
but I haven't a clue how to go about a proper diagnosis!

I've never (knowingly) added any add-ons to my version of FF.

Firefox will just close itself if I try to go to one particular website (not this one!) Only been doing it for a week or 2, no idea why...
Barefoot Andrew

Hmm, interesting. I've never had a firefox malfunction ever - been using it since its early days. Will ponder.

They must have taken the teddy bear away Sad

My Firefox eventually was so slow it almost came to a standstill. When I reinstalled it came back to life. It never crashed, just stopped moving.

Son's Firefox (3.5) on an Apple crashes on certain websites, including facebook. I'm still on 3.0, no problems.
orangepippin

I'm on 3.5.3. I think FF has been pretty stable since 3.5, although previous versions have been less good and would regularly go slow or freeze on newspaper websites. I don't think I've ever had a problem with IE.
marigold

I'm on FF 2.0.0.8. Maybe I should upgrade! Yesterday I priced up a fantasy all-the-trimmings MacBook Air - I must buy a lotto ticket later Very Happy

Hmm, still crashing regularly (firs time I've had issues with FF). I'm on FF 3.5.3 and my Downsizer tab has a yellow shield with an exclamation mark in it, and "Close tab" is greyed out for this tab...
Hairyloon

I've also been having trouble with Firefox crashing.
Often enough to be annoying, but not intolerable... yet.

Using Chrome here for the past 8 months or so without any problems.
Bernie66

Mine has crashed here today, it told me that an add on was causing instability and was removing it. Might be worth a look at your add ons and settings for auto download etc

I get that quite a lot in FF so now use Chrome instead but that doesn't work on all web sites.
JohnB

I had the addon causing instability message a couple of days ago. I let it disable whatever it said was the problem. It hasn't been crashing lately though.
Calli

Have been on Chrome for a long while now. It is definately the best for me and how I like to work.

Its robust and is handling Google Wave just fine.
