First bee sting - IN THE EAR!So this is the first sting from our own bees. Had to happen sometime.
Quite simply I was watching them fly in and out (a few feet back) and OH said there were wasps on the hive. I stepped in to take a look and to tell him I thought our feeder must be leaking & the wasps were taking the sugar.
When I must have got in the way because one poor bee flew straight into my ear! I could hear & feel the wings flapping in my ear and immediately I tried to swat it out.
It escaped and at first I thought I hadn't been stung, but then my ear got warm. I scraped a sting out of my ear lobe. I imagine the head & wings went in and it's bum was left out to sting me.
Fairly mild thankfully - but I'll be more cautious close to the hive in future!

Ow!
It could've been worse though.

Stand to the side then you can watch really close without stinging.
(says he who gets stung doing the same as you at least two or three times a year).

When I worked in a fruit and veg shop many years ago we would cut an onion to put on wasp stings, Is there anything similar to use on bee stings. I have the anthisan cream but wondered if there were any natural remedies.

OUCH! I hope it feels better now! My tutor got stung on the lip. There wasn't a single offer to kiss it better...

My ear is still warm and thick and now slightly itchy. Remarkably it was never very sore.
Still I will be more cautious in future about watching too close!
It helped of course that OH who laughed at me got stung the next day for mowing too close!

Oh dear... They can be temperamental. MrB got stung twice today thru his beesuit. He swore.
