Fishing from the peerAm hoping to go fishing in Bridlington in the next couple of weeks. Have done a little beach casting but never fished from the peer before- what kind of tackle rig do I need?.. simple as possible please!
Cheers

You will need his lordships permission first.

You can take your beach casting gear if you want to. Being on the peer will just give you a flying start over the people who are fishing from the shore. You will be guarenteed to be fishing in deepish water .
If you catch a fish then you will need to wynch your fish up onto the pier.
You will need stronger line and or a drop net otherwise you will catch your fish and then lose them as you lift them from the surface.
Dependant on the pier you may also get away with using a boat rod. In this case, instead of hoiking your bait out into the wild blue yonder you will lob it out just clear of the piers metal work.
End tackle wise . Keep it as simple as possible.
Weight on the bottom with a swivel.
One snood tied on with a length of line that takes the hook below the weight.
If you're going for the drop down method just use a couple of plastic booms with short hook lengths.

have a look in fishing , useful websites
a thin line at the terminal and sacrificial wieghts can be useful in rocks or weed
a vertical drop into the water with a paternoster and several hook baits can work as fish go for shelter and food around pier supports
small , strong hooks catch large and small fish
slide floating can be ace off a pier or rocks
spinning works some times
bait that moves attractivly with a hidden line and hook ,rag or lob are good as is very fresh fish ,ie catch bait

Ah yes...see what you did there.
Sorry "pier"
In fact what Iactually meant was the "jutty-out-bit-of-harbour-wall- thingy" in Brid' but pier seemed simpler at the time. How wrong I was!
Dpack:- thanks for that
