Food waste recycling without making compost?

It sounds like an utter contradiction in terms..... but I live in a flat with nowhere to make/use compost, sadly Sad
Having moved recently I don't know anyone yet who's compost heap I can adopt and add my veg peelings too.

Anyone got any bright ideas? It feels very wrong to be throwing teabags and scraps in the bin when it can be put to better use.
I'm stumped!

Does your council recycling scheme take compostables? Some will if they are all bagged up together, go out in clear bags with the bins

Are there any allotments near to where you live? If so, perhaps you could add your peelings etc to their compost heap?

Is there a local organic gardening group? They'll probably have someone who'd like it. Or even Freecycle!

People turn up at the farmers' market with bags of scraps/peelings for my neighbour's pigs! They are very gratefully received Smile

Some towns/areas have Community Composting schemes (not always council-run)

I went to a flat the other day and they had an indoor wormery/worm composter - it was amazing! It didn't smell and produces lots of 'juice' which she put on the house plants to amazing success - everything was blooming. She's getting the next batch of juice ready for me!
You could then give the compost to anyone who needs it?
Didn't smell either - although slightly gross to begin with. But when I saw how many flowers her cactus had, it wasn't so gross.

Would the council take kitchen waste for composting? I know we'll all do it but I can imagine a council being ultra cautious.
resistance is fertile

Food waste is the best stuff for the small back yard methane barrel digesters.

Ive got a set of plans somewhere Ill dig out, I seem to remember Joyti, from fivepenny farm's, dad or uncle was behind alot of the simple small digesters that were being made to convert domestic and restraunt waste in this way.
