Foraging addiction: any advice?

Help Crying or Very sad

I seem to have an addictive personality. On my way home from work I stop for hours every day to gather berries, mushrooms, "wild" apples (don't ask) and fish for trout. The weather is worse than lousy and I come home drenched. Every evening is used to clean, cook, dry or freeze. My storage room is full, no more containers left, freezer full and my legs/back are nearly falling off.

Am I alone? Anybody out there who can come up with some useful advice?

Never ask what I will do with the stuff. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Christmas presents are certainly sorted out Shocked

You could be addicted to worse.
colour it green

don't fight it Smile

I can't walk down the lane to visit the hens without coming back with pockets of hazelnuts...
and its always when it gets dark that I realise now i have to sit and strip elderberries.. etc etc

Go with it, it's hard to do otherwise when there's so much about right now. Thing's will slow down all too soon anyway and then you can adopt another addiction.

Just think what would happen if, like me, you don't have a job. I have been out for 6 hours at a time. Mind you my dog loves it.

Slow down!? When? There is always something to forage whatever the time of year. With an addiction I find I search even harder when supplies are low Smile

Slow down as in less abundance generally, not slow down as in nothing to forage.

I don't know how to combat this addiction either - I seem to be a jamwidow now.

Get an allotment (or the Scandinavian equivalent). Then you find that your foraging time is slightly restricted by your growing things time. That makes you both sad (less foraging) and happy (more vegetables).

The nice bit about foraging is that one can decide where and when. The nasty bit is the addiction Confused

Going for a walk with EV is a most frustrating activity if walking is what you set out to do.

I drive my sister mad when we go for walks. I'm always stopping to look at a mushroom or pick berries. Sadly she has no interest so I rarely get the chance to pick anything.
