free "secure"cloud starage?that is storage oops

any suggestions ?

i have 5g dropbox but it has a reputation of not being secure from observation and they can access files for their own use and such folk are likely to have a bit of a vague idea of "for ever"

i dont need a huge space(5 g should be a good start)but secure for ever regardless of those who might wish to delete information(and private ,thanks mr snowden)would be sensible.

To clarify, you want free, secure, forever storage?

You'll probably find you get what you pay for.
dpack

perhaps Wink

forever is a flexible term ,not quickly deleted by the forces of darkness with a time scale of a couple of years might be more accurate

for instance if i was writing a paper that would make me dr dpack where should i store my data ?

Fireproof safe at a trusted 3rd party address. How often will you need to access the files?

Any cloud storage provider will have access to your data, it's more about trust than security. If you want secure then you'll have to ensure it's all encrypted with your own certificates but then you're also going to have to define the term 'secure'.

tresorit? Laughing

it wanted a very good password Laughing

do i trust the swiss? maybe
dpack

my definition of secure is

not easily hacked by amateurs

""""" by pro

long term (at least a few years )

not easily deleted by pro(archiving is an ongoing issue judging by my 404 links)

my password is awesome so long as i can remember it and it was not collected at source Rolling Eyes

Look at remote attached storage (cloud based disk which your local OS can mount). Azure do something like this. It won't be free though.

thanks we might do that as a collective
