How well does it work Julie.

I am always forgetting to put ours on charge, as I hardly use it.

I've just compared prices for 80W solar panel with Wind and Sun. If you haven't already might pay to take a trip over to http://www.windandsun.co.uk

Hi Alison,

I got mine before Christmas and I've been pleased with it. Owing to the weather, most of the charges have been USB based - but I find a couple of hours of charging of the Freeloader from USB is enough to top my phone up unless it's been a very battery intensive day!

I've managed several days when there's been enough sun to top the phone charge up - so I've high hopes of being able to do that every day in the summer. There have been other days when I've partially charged the Freeloader from solar and then completed the charge from USB.

I have to say that I've not yet measured the power consumption of the PC with and without the Freeloader charging to ensure that the computer's consumption doesn't go up by more than a phone charger! It really shouldn't, but I like to be sure of these things!

I've had the Freeloader a month and have probably only used the regular phone charger 3 or 4 times in that period - so finding it quite useful.

I just wish my office faced south and I could do a solar charge here! Later in the year I might have a bit more luck - though the new Willis office building is doing a good job of blocking the light Evil or Very Mad
