freezing dried yeastCan you freeze the dried yeast granules that have to be reconsituted in warm water before use ?
If so, for how long will they keep in a freezer ?

if the yeast is dried why do you need to freeze it?

Because there is a lot of it, and now I've opened the tin, I won't use it up fast enough.

I used some the other week that was two years past the date on the tin. I wouldn't worry about it.

How longh had the tin been open, though ?
I've had recent experiences with dried yeast not working, some even within use by date, but open quite a while.
So I wondered whether freezing some might be the answer

We put ours in a small screw top jar. Just keep it out of the sunlight / heat.

why not freeze the half you won't use before the sell-by, it'll be no loss if it doesn't work and a gain if it does. Come to think of it, why don't I do that too?
