Gardener's Delight

Well, that's what is says on the label, but they don't look anything like the Gardener's Delight tomatoes I've grown in the past Confused . Still, they haven't got blight, are beginning to ripen and haven't split after last night's downpour Very Happy.

Very nice Smile

The gardeners delight strain you can get from 'real seeds' is a real treasure, I'd reccomend that one.

These came from the Pound Shop. My Red Alert are also ripening up nicely. I'm being very restrained and waiting until the first fruits really are ripe before I start munching...

Gardeners delight is quite a varied thing, you get different lines that seem to be really quite different; the old fashioned little cherry tomato types are just divine though. If yours this year turn out good, its a doddle to save seed of course.

These will have to be exceptionally tasty to get their seed saved because the plants haven't really produced much fruit. Maybe I've taken too many leaves off, not fed them enough or the weather has been too cold, but it doesn't look as if I'll be getting a huge crop from them. Mind you, as I got about 6 ripe toms before the blight bit last year I should be grateful for what I've got Very Happy .

I just pruned mine by mistake. Bugger.

Ripe as you can get them on the plant is best, but I don't see anything wrong with picking a little under ripe and letting it ripen inside to avoid splits and such

Ripening indoors has it's merits, but there's nothing like eating at least some of them warm from the plant Very Happy .

Agree 100%
I have two that are nearly, but ever so not quite there. The anticipation is killing me!
