Gas

What kind of gas are you using for cooking in the UK? And what kind of bottles/cylinders? The screw-top or the push-down?
tahir

We use propane, push down
Nick

We have mains, but the parents in law had red cylinders (propane?) and sort of push on, turn a locking thingie.
Erikht

Thank you, Sirs.
Jonnyboy

Propane, red 47kg bottle. LH threaded.
RichardW

No gas here, well unless you count natural gas Embarassed Embarassed

The caravan uses 47kg propane with the LH thread as above

Would you get smaller bottles that was LH threaded? The reason I ask is because I brought a bottle with me from South Africa a few years back, and I would like to be able to fill it in a neighbouring country, as I can't do it here. It's a 4,5 kg bottle, so it's a different game all together.
RichardW

Yes we do have 4.5 kg in propane & butane BUT in this country they dont fill your bottle they exchange it. So if its not one owned by the same company & still in test date you wont get an exchange for a full one. Oh & the small 4.5kg ones have a male thread whilst the big bottles have a female threaded port.

Ah "thread" envy

Innuendos aside - We were unable to bring our gas bottle from South Africa, but did bring all the attachments. Have consequently had to buy a custom made adaptor to connect UK 'camping gas' bottles to Cadac barbeque.
I'm think, but stand corrected, that the pressure in the gas bottles differs between SA and UK, but maybe that's not particularly helpful as you are not in the UK.
Do pm me if I can share any further info.
