growing sweet potatos

Is it possible to grow sweet potatos in the north of england, ive looked in a few books but cant find anything about them
judith

They might work for you in a greenhouse, but I wouldn't expect much success outdoors.

Polytunnel growing is best for them.

All depends on when you're going to get a frost. They do well enough here in tropical East Anglia, at least for the last two years I've done fine with them. They like a long season, they bulk out late so it rather depends on avoiding early frosts.

when should i plant them? and can i just plant a sweet potato or will i have to buy seeds?
