haggling with BTWell I'm feeling really pleased with myself - I've just been on to BT regarding changing my Broadband connection - I've been on BT Broadband for well over 2 years and the connection has got slowly worse although over the weekend my download speed has jumped significantly (later discovered they'd finally upgraded my speed to 2mb over the weekend)
So having looked around the packages decided to go to Metronet 2mb 20:1 contention 150gb monthly download for £27.99 per month - £3 more expensive than I'm paying with BT but I reckoned it was worth it for the 20:1 contention rate (Most home broadband contention rates are 50:1 which means that upto 50 people can be using the same line as you)
Rang BT to ask for the MAC number to change - got put through to Billing services who promptly offered me £6.50 a month discount on my current package for the next 4 months taking my broadband down to 18.49 per month - Can't argue with that. I suspect that there is something big waiting in the pipeline re broadband - The company I work for does alot of work for BT and there is alot of discussion at the moment regarding 8mb
So if you are with BT give them a ring and haggle - It could be worth your while

Sounds good. Very competative with the £24.95 for 2Mb with NTL.

I've been known to ring NTL and ask them why I can't have the same discount as people who are just signing up are getting. They'll often extend it to me too.
