Hand powered grain grinder.

I know it a slim chance but if anyone has one of these or hears of one wanting a new home, then please keep me in mind.
I'd be willing to pay a good price and would use it to turn whole grain into chicken and animal feed.
Thanks.

I've just done a quick Google and come up with this link. How ingenious?

Not quite what I had in mind but you've got to admire them. Very Happy
sean

Ingenious, but he's wearing socks with sandals.

The picture was two years old, he might have matured a little now. Laughing

Did the romans have socks?

Apparently so. I saw something on tv some months ago that a fossilised sock had been unearthed with a roman sandal - after seeing that, I wear socks with sandals, keeps my feet cleaner and hides my toenail fungus infection. Laughing

Too much information Alan. You were doing fine up to the hyphen Laughing

Maybe the absence of effective systemic anti-fungal medication caused the decline and fall of the roman empire. Probably played havoc with their marching.

Apologies for dragging this topic back on track Wink , or perhaps dragging it off in a different direction Shocked Laughing , but I have used both a hand cranked grinder and a (rotary) quernstone, and the hand cranked thing was not a patch on the quernstone. Finding a quernstone could be even harder than finding a hand grinder though! MIL's went walkabout years ago Sad and they were getting rare even then.
Slim

What's a quernstone?

I've helped link up stationary bikes to grinders before. It's fun, and works quite well - particularly if the bike has a heavy flywheel built in, which many of the older ones do.
gil

small millstone, in pairs [off to find pic]

Thanks folks. I'm not really looking to grind flour, but to turn whole grain into a roughish meal.

Harmmer mill?
