Hello from DeesideHi there!
Cake making forester here from deepest, sunniest Deeside (Scotland)
Am a bit of a jack of all trades but I love giving stuff a try.
Look forward to getting to know some of you better!

HI Jo90
Welcome in. I think most of the downsizers are in Devon this weekend so its a bit quiet on here, usually full of people.
What animals do you have, I have pigs, horse, chickens dog, cat etc. and we try to grow a lot of our veg.

Hello there - I'm afraid it is a bit quiet as most of the gang are here this weekend: http://forum.downsizer.net/viewtopic.php?t=41112&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=105
Save for those of us left behind who are lambing, working and guarding the fort...welcome aboard though. They'll all be back later - slightly worse for wear no doubt

Hello and welcome from south wales. Making the the most the sunshine here, gardening and general small holding type activities, trying not to be too glum about not being in Devon with the part time workers...
At least we wont have the headaches that are surely being nursed today in Devon....and not from sun stroke...more like an over indulgence in Gils homemade wine, who lives in Scotland and loves cake...

Hello!
Well I hope Devon went well
Thanks for the lovely welcome! Sorry my reply has been a bit delayed - went a bit mad up here - relatives, birthdays, sick chooks, sick me, hedges, trees....
To answer your questions....
WelshVegGrower... chickens. Lots of em and a mix of breeds. Some for the table and some for well, we rescued some that you'd never eat but they're pure dead funny. Oh and two goldfish. Thats it.
Howevvvvvvvver...we're both ex farming stock and have kept pigs, horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, cows, goats and dogs'n'cats in the past but the country estate we live on now is a Huntin' Shootin' and Fishin' one and won't allow us anything other than chooks. Sounds bad eh but if you could see this place...its heaven upon earth and felt like home the minute we walked in. (We had to move for work) Also we're sorted for venison and as much pigeon and rabbit as you can eat.
So its me, him, James our 3 year old and many, many chickens for just now.
We grow our own veg (I also sell that locally, veg box stylee).
Penny - I make LOTS of cakes for two local shops. Porter cake, Bara Brith, Carrot cake, spiced apple cakes, banana cakes, brownies, sticky gingerbread, orange cake, lemon drizzle cakes, teabreads, scones, Lime yoghurt and pistachio cakes, italian hazlenut cake, muffins of every description...you name it, I'll bake it.
Other than that - I do trees.
The OH (as he'll pop on now and again too) has his own engineering company and spends much of his time involved in that and having weird engineering construction competitions with his workmates. Latest is potato gun. He also loves old tractors (he was a tractorman years ago on the other estate where we both lived - I was forester..it was destiny..) and has a Grey Fergie and a ancient blue Leyland.
Right, I'm laying a hedge at the mo, so better get off back outside before rain starts! We had a gorgeous weekend as well but thats the summer in NE scotland over now
Cheers!
