Hello from Hertfordshire

Hello All, nice to meet you Smile

I'm so glad to have come across this website. I'm into being green, I have been for a while, but not owning my own place can make some things difficult, but I do the best I can for now.

I live on a farm and this year I helped with the lambing.
I am now hooked, but being a vege, it's a tricky thing to be hooked on lol.

I've really enjoyed working with the sheep. I find them intelligent creatures and interesting to watch.

I have three orphans in my garden for now, (which is really just a paddock as it's a farmhands cottage- no pretty flowers Sad ) who lead a privilidged lifestyle hehe and it's my interest in them and their health that has lead me here, to this fab site.
They came to me tiny and weak, and now they are healthy happy lambs, and hopefully they will stay that way, but if I have any probs I shall be asking like a madthing Smile

I find not just the animal, but the science of the animal, interesting.
So expect some daft questions as to why they do this or that Laughing

Looking forward to reading thru the threads and joining in and learning lots of new stuff- not just about sheep, but all livestock and the environment.

Ta for reading xx

Hello and welcome Very Happy

I like sheep too.

Another welcome from Wales, I love my sheep too and have enjoyed many orphan lambs boinging about after we have bought them on. Happily we have had a lamb born to an old ewe this year who is a wonderful mum ,so it has been a great pleasure but without all the feeds... Very Happy
Do you spin, knit or do any sort of wool craft Question , if not there is so much more to explore to help you really enjoy the caring of sheep, excluding the eating of them.

There is no such thing as a daft question - it is only daft to NOT ask the question Very Happy

Thanks for all the hello's Very Happy

Ginkotree, I can knit, but havent for a long time. I keep saying I am going to take it up again. I did spin wool once as a child with one of those hand held things but it was sooo long ago the memory is faint lol Laughing
I'm having a good read of the threads and reading info on other sites re sheep caring and sheep behaviour.

Once again, thanks all for the nice welcome xx

Youll soon get hooked again once you make time , it is such a lovely way to honour all that caring. There is nothing like making something from your own fleece, and given ones,it helps to keep the rare breeds appreciated.
