Hello from the polytunnel
Hi, another new recruit who's escaped from a big town to rural Devon. Had to try this to find out what it was all about and it looks great. Hope I've got something to offer and gain. Anybody from Okehampton area? Have you got a Barnavelder or Blackrock point of lay I can buy? And how do I grow the sweet potatoes? I can't work it out with the text and no pictures. Idiots guide please.

Hi Polly & welcome.
I don't have any black rock or barnies.
Never grown sweet potatoes but no doubt those that do will be along soon.

Hi Polly,
Devon. Wonderful part of the UK. I suspect that buying point of lay hens this time of year might be tricky. You could always buy some day olds and go from there?
Welcome.

Hi Polly, welcome to DS. I think sweet potatoes are grown from cuttings (called "slips") - some seed catalogues have them (e.g. Thompsonand Morgan).

Hi Polly,
Welcome! I know nowt about Sweet potatoes but I might know someone who knows about Barnvelders.
I'll let my Chez (OH) know about your welcome message and she'll be along tomorrow.

Hi Polly, Welcome!
I don't have any POL barnevelders, but I'm hatching some at the moment if that's any help. I don't know anyone down Devon way who has any, but we come up and down to my mum in Somerset a lot.
