I'm Richard, I know Jamanda who suggested I join. We were at University in Aberystwyth together in the far far far past.
I'm a single dad with two children who live with me, James 17, Sarah 12. I've been eco for as long as I can remember.
I lecture in renewable energy at Loughborough University. Biomass is my field.
My big downsizing for 2007, after my other half left, was to live without a car. And it's going great. I had always cycled to work. There is an excellent bus service into town if I do not feel like cycling, every 10 minutes and it goes through to Leicester if we feel the need. As long as you put some thought into ensuring you plan what you are going for and get all you need this seems to be working.
For Christmas the kids were really good and so were quite selective in gifts. I told them nothing that would end up as landfill within a couple of days.

Hmmmm...a friend of Jamanda's eh? Dodgy connections then. 
On the brighter side, I lecture at Aberystwyth Uni now - great place to work.
